I was definitely going
to write about Mérida, Cáceres and Trujillo right after we got back, but that
didn’t happen… Woops!! This isn’t a super detailed post, sorry, but the one
right after it will be much more!
We took a bus
Saturday, the 26 of October to Extremadura, the province just north of Andalucía. Mérida was our first stop. Its not a very large city, but it had an Ancient Roman amphitheater and a stadium for gladiators / wild animals.
We visited the Roman art history museum there as well before we split off for lunch and made our way back to the bus for Cáceres. It was about another hour away, but it was a super cute town.
That night, we went out to see the ancient part of the city, but unknown to us there was a procession going on, something similar to All Saints Day, where all the churches had a procession and float of their saint.
All the floats were so gorgeous and so decorated. There were candles, and crosses and flower, and each float was accompanied by and bad and the leaders of the church with staffs. We watched the procession, then made haste to see the ancient city before we had to head back to the hotel to eat dinner. Emily and I bought some wine and that night we watched the UKs version of Jersey Shore, Jordie Shore, ate potato chips and drank sparkling wine before passing out.
Sunday, we got up and headed to Trujillo! It was an adorable town that had a great Muslim defensive tower on top of the hill that we went and visited. It was a gorgeous view, and the weather was just perfect!! After the climb up to the tower, we made our way back down for wine and lunch. After stuffing ourselves, we got back on the bus and made the four-hour trip home while taking our siestas!
I really enjoyed being able to go on this mini trip and see another area of Spain that is so different from Andalucía.

Looks awesome! So do you!!
